In May, Trump was convicted of 34 felonies related to falsifying business records to cover up hush money paid to a porn star during the 2016 election.

With the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity, his sentencing, which was previously scheduled for July 11, has been delayed until September to allow the judge to rule on Trump's lawyers' claims that the hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels were official acts of the Presidency
The delay does not mean that Juan M. Merchan will find reason to overturn the jury’s verdict, but immunity claims like Trump's lawyers are now making get preferential hearing ahead of sentencing.
The sentencing will depend on whether or not the courts determine Trump’s efforts to cover up the hush money payment to the porn star, Stormy Daniels, to be considered an act of “official” presidential business or not, as the Supreme Court determined that “official” acts have presidential immunity and “unofficial” acts do not.
