2nd January 6th Committee Hearing

The Committee showed evidence of former President Trump pushing election fraud lies against advice of top advisors. 

The House Select Committee on January 6th held its second public hearing on Monday, June 13 to present the facts about the lie that the 2020 election was stolen. The Committee showed new testimony from top White House advisors who knew there was no significant voter fraud and told Trump he had lost the election.

  • The Trump Campaign` sent millions of fundraising emails pushing lies about election fraud between election day and January 6. It raised $250 million from supporters. This money was never actually used to try and overturn election results. 

  • Former Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien did not appear as a witness because he was with his wife, who was giving birth. His lawyer read a statement for him.

  • A witness reported that an intoxicated Rudy Giuliani told Trump to declare victory on election night 2020, despite top advisors saying the election was too early to call. 

  • Former Attorney General Bill Barr debunked the claims of voter fraud promoted in Dinesh D’Souza’s movie 2000 Mules, saying the movie had no credibility. Barr also said that Trump refused to believe that there was no voter fraud. 

  • Trump-appointed U.S. attorney Byung J. Pak explained how his investigation of supposed voter fraud in Atlanta, GA revealed no evidence of widespread fraud.
